Hi Dean!

thank you very much - in Austria we say: "Wow you call in the wood, so it will come back" - I think, the translation means the same: "What goes around, comes around". :winkie:

Sorry, yesterday I was too impatient with my registration here - therefore I sent ypu the emails

I will visit soon this new page! - our post is now lost???????????????????

Hi Axel - nice to meet you,

your Phoenicophorium borsigianum are dead - sorry; those, which I send to Sandra, too.

Hi Palmy!

Welcome in Europe - and have a good time here. Your german is very good - and it will be perfect when you have finished your study. I hope it is not too cold for yourself in Thübingen

Yes Moni,

My last post is missing for some reason. So I will try and recreate what I said earlier.

I was mentioning how I periodically get comments from new members who think they are being ignored, and that there is too much interaction between the "regulars" while leaving out the newcomers. This topic is a perfect example of how friendly and receptive the members are here depending on how the newbies introduce themselves. You seem to have figured that out already. :)

I was also mentioning the new online palm magazine I just published minutes ago that includes an article from one of your neighbors in Switzerland, and how you could both probably learn a few things from each other about growing palms in less than optimum conditions. PALM MAG ONLINE

Welcome to PalmTalk.

For organizing my plants I use this too: http://www.exotencenter.de/ -- sorry, it is in German language - perhaps you find something similar in english???? It is very helfpul for me! :winkie:

Salzburg is not tropical  --- it is rainy and cold  - if you live here  - I think, you would not like to live here for more than a few weeks :D

Oh Wow -- a freeware plant database organizer??? I will definitely give that a look!! Thanks!

I really enjoyed the pictures of Salzubrg as well. I would have loved to spend more time there. It was rainy when we were there. I went with the WSU concert choir and we were only there for about a day I think.

Yes, it a a very fine organizer - some "exotic" - freaks helped together - I too :winkie:) - and the result is OK; I like it - and cannot imagine, how to "live" without it

Salzburg without rain is not Salzburg   - if you stayed here for more days, you have more rain

Hi Moni,

I Just now noticed your introduction posting (after I spoke with you about the tree climbing cactus on my post).

A warm welcome to the Palmtalk forum from me. Yes, you are crazy! I can say that as I, too, am crazy about palms and tropicals. My wife tells me that, too. Of course, she likes palms too, but likes flowering plants the best.

I have to hand it (admire) to you, to be growing so many palms and plants in your climate. That is a true indicator of your love for them.

Again, welcome aboard.

Walt

Moni, Moni............they named a song after you didn't they?............anyway, impressive collection and beautiful area you live in.....would love to be able to snow ski all winter. Welcome to the board.

Hello at all!

we live in a small village near Salzburg/Austria - USDA 5b - unfortunatelly very cold, much snow in winter and not sooo warm in summer - and much rain inbetween

My hobby and passion is to collect palmtrees and other exotic plants - though here in Salzburg it is not possible to let them grow outdoor during winter - I thinkI have about 500 pots (litte and bigger one) :D

Welcome to the PalmTalk forum Moni - and your climate sounds very similar to where I live in the UK! Maybe not as much snow and definately your scenery is thousand times better :) Also congratulations on your collection, its AMAZING and a great example of what can be done if you dedicate yourself to our palm friends. :)

Hallo Moni,

welcome on bord! ich bin total geplättet von den Fotos. Respekt! I think everyone knwos what the last word means even though it's in german...

Hello Mr. T and Janni!

Thank you :D - I now think, it is not only hard in winter to take care of the plants - in "summer" it is not easy, too:

Here it is raining since one week and we have 9°C (day an night) - and there is no end to see in the weather-links --- I hope the plants will overcome :hmm:
