Welcome to our merry, merry big band!

Come to the PSSC meeting this Saturday, at the Quail Botanical Gardens and you'll see oodles of wonderful plants in the ground and for sale, and for auction. Plus meet some of the most fabulously rabid palm fanatics around . . . . .

I'll be the auctioneer with the red shoes . . . .

yes - I will be there

I was at quail garden on monday and found out about the show from a flyer on a table !

I was there looking around and getting ideas.

so now on to the subject of species - any ideas ?

I live 10 miles inland where it is warmer and sunnier than the coast.

I have sandy soil which drains well and the house faces south with a hill behind me , but the angle

is good getting sun from 9am - 5 pm in the summer.

any ideas ???

There are a lot of great palm nurseries in SD. You should check out Jungle Music and JD Andersens's nurseries. They will be able to help you with the palms that will work in your climate.

Dypsis ambositrae

Ravenea glauca

Roystoneas

Dypsis onilahensis

Coccothrinax

...are some of my favorites that always look good and are of a nice form that you usually don't see just driving around.

All of the above will handle all day in full sun.

Anyone who can grow Dypsis decipiens should have one! Actually any of the Dypsis mentioned here are exceptionally beautiful.

Trioderob!

I concur with Matty, Terry and Paul.

You should be able to grow anything I can grow, which is a lot.

Come up and visit me, and I'll take you to Louis and Carol Hooper's place.

I would also recommend, C. macrocarpa, and H. Indica ( southern red ), good luck, and welcome, oh ya, you didn't say how much money you were willing to part with, that determines the species list, as far as rarity is concerned, Ed
