Here's a couple of mine. They really grow fast! They seem very mite prone due to the lack of rain in South Florida.

I'm pretty certain that I remember either Bo or Jerry Andersen at some point hinting that this is going to be described as a new species soon...I hope this is true, don't have time to go searching through all the old threads to make sure. Jerry has a large plant in his garden and the inflorescence is HUGE, seemed to be clearly different than pinnatifrons. Plus the palm is much larger than you might imagine, the trunk on these things fattens up more than any other palm I've seen as they get older (from 1" when young to ~6" when more mature).

Gileno, does your palm have new red leaves? Yours does sort of look like pinnatifrons to me, maybe the seed was not right. The 'pink crown has maroon new leaves that stay that color for quite a while.

Gileno,

Yes, I have to agree with Matt's observation - unless yours open up with a reddish/maroon new frond it's probably pinnatifrons. And I believe I covered this issue in the "Dr. John Dransfield visits the Big Island" thread (not sure of the exact name of the thread) back in July 2008. This palm WILL get a valid name of its own, and that name is not going to be pinnatifrons... And that's all I can say! :)

Thanks a lot for the information folks.

Mine here doesn't bring up a very reddish new leaf, but it has some maroonish hue instead, not so dark as Palmisland's. I bought these seeds from RPS and I guess I had only 3 or 4 to germinate (out of 10). I really can't remember how long it took for them to sprout, edric...wish you good luck, it's a very elegant looking small palm, in my opinion. I'm keeping mine under 50% shadecloth...should I take it out of the greenhouse by now? The weather here is getting cooler now and it's been rainning a lot...

Thanks Gileno, it's an under story palm, do not move it in to full sun, if I were you, I would leave it where it is, Ed
