Unusual palms (for Phoenix,Arizona)found at local nursery

Today,I was strolling through a local nursery(Whitfills on Southern Ave)and noticed a few palms for sale that are unusual for our area.36 inch box Trithrinax acanthocoma, with 4 feet of wood in all their spiny glory, quoted at $500. 36inch box Butia capitata, also with 3 to 4 feet of wood, price unknown.25 gallon Cuban Royal palms, leftovers from last year looking sad but revivable with a little tlc, holding 2 fronds each, reduced from $100 to $50.Noticed lots of Bismarks,Braheas, and a few Triangle palms, along with a new shipment of 7 gallon Bottle palms priced at $60.In the past,I have also seen Foxtails,Fishtails, and even a couple of Coccothrinax species.Worth a look if you want something a little different from your neighbor.I bought one of the bottle palms and shoehorned it into my landscape as they were just too cute to pass up; and I've been growing one in the ground for several years now. I think they look the best when they are young.

Here is a current shot of my other bottle palm that started out as a 5 gallon plant and has been in the ground for 7 years now. They seem to do just fine in Phoenix if you can give them a protected microclimate away from the burning western sun.(mine are on the south east corner of the house)
