Dear Friends :)

Today we are going to see the repotting work of Sabal minor/Dwarf Palmetto. This came to me from brother M@x as a small sapling around one and half years back.Like all sabals this one too has grown well for our hot wet tropical climate. And this palm was trying to lift itself from its small pot.this prompted me to place it in a bigger pot.

And for those who need more info on this variety here is a link for you..'Sabal minor'.

For more visuals of this variety kindly visit this Link ! to see some mature specimes..

From the following posts you will have step by step illustrations of our repotting work !

Thanks & Love,

Kris :)

By the way i red that there is also a blue form of S.Minor (Tulsa).

And here the latest update ! :hmm: And one small doubt about Sabal Minor & S.Palmetto, when they become too big for their pots do they tend to put out roots which are protruding skywards seen just near the main trunk region..??? :hmm: Since i have this experience with one sabal palmetto(growing in a big black indusrtial barrel) and in this S.Minor.i hope you can see that feature in the still given below !

Dear Kris!

Thank you for your stills "Palm Maintenance Work.Yr_2009" from the several palmtrees.

These are very interesting infos.

Your experience with the roots in top near the maintrunk I had too, at Sabal yapa (or mauritiiformis) as I got it from the gardener.

I think, it is typical vor Sabals???

That's probably the heel. Here's a blurry picture of my Sabal minor seedling.

And here is the entire plant. The seed came from Rare palm seeds. They make nice looking seedlings with the spiky, blue-green leaves. I saw a photo of a succulent garden in California that had a mature Sabal minor in it. Although I usually think of minors as a swamp plant, the spiky leaflets and bluish color did not look out of place at all.

Looking good Kris and as always, excellent visuals. Are my eyes deceiving me, or does you S. minor have a blue coloration to it? I do not have this species yet and have never seen one in person.

Dear Matt :)

Thanks for your sweet comments, and i do not know when this palm will put out seeds,And when it does you will get its seeds...since it becomes a duty of a true palm lover to share the varities which other palm friends desire to have.. :)

I learnt this lesson from brother M@x,Gileno,Meg,and our 'material needed for germination' thread is a testimony of their generosity. And iam humbeled by their behaviour.Since when i joined this forum i had a very nasty habit that what i posses or cherish i did not want to part with or share with others.i.e my posassions should be always unique.

I think i have diviated from the main topic now... :(

Lots of love to you,

Kris :)
