Butia compacta

Featured Replies

Dude, I would be all over that. Beautiful palm, one of the best from the Butia line.

Thanks for the update.  Certainly does seem like it is compact based on not much growth over the last 12 years.  Has it set seed at all?

Interesting you say that, it’s pushing out it’s first two spathes right now.

Very nice!  Hopefully the offspring come out like the parent...

I think I’m going to hybridized one of the spathes and let the other one go natural and see if it sets seed

I wonder if Queen pollen would result in it staying compact...the result a compact mule

That would be really cool, I’m really torn, I’d love to just produce a bunch of compacta seed, but I can’t help but wonder what would become of the hybrid.

I'd like to see the result of B x J with this palm ...   Its probably the closest to a jubaea like palm you can grow here in my area florida.

Formerly in Gilbert AZ, zone 9a/9b. Now in Palmetto, Florida Zone 9b/10a??

Please put me on the list for whatever seed you produce with it :shaka-2:
