simulating rice

Featured Replies

I want to build an imitation rice paddy as part of my garden.  Any suggestions for grasses that are similar visually?  While I could actually grow rice here, water is a precious resource here that I do not want to devote to this project.

Need zone 9 hardy grasses, but would tolerate something that dies back in winter, or an annual grass if seed is cheap enough and readily available (thinking about 500-1000 square feet).
