    Tonites sunset was a top 10!

    I watched the whole thing start to finish while driving west on the 91 freeway through Riverside, but with no camera to record it. I don't think I could have gotten a good enough shot to do it justice, since the color was spectacular in all directions. It's the best one I've seen in about 18 months.

    sunset over santa catalina island yesterday.

    Don't make this mistake! I picked up my camera in a hurry to get this sunset before it disappeared, and took six shots.

    I was in such a hurry, I didn't notice that a previous user of the camera had turned off the auto-focus and I was rewarded with fuzzy pics of one of the best sunsets for color I'd seen in a great many years. You can't imagine how disappointed I was to see the imperfect results after the fantastic colors had vanished.

    I walk along the intercoastal waterway to the end of the island then back home on the ocean...this sunset last night got even more colorful but I was on the wrong side of the island to capture it...this will have to do.

    I don't know why the dock has red and green lanterns, but it looks nice. :)

    Hey Kim- It was nice to meet you at the Searle's cookout. The red and green lights aren't attached to the dock...its an optical illusion...those lights are used for channel markers and are placed on poles on either side of the channel.-Peter

    ? I walked out on the dock and the lights are definitely on posts on the dock, not more than 6 feet apart, flanking the walkway. Maybe they were meant to be decorative and mimic channel lights? In any case, I was charmed.

    And a week later and another sunset - this one in Key West! Those Key Westians (or would that be Key Westerners? :mrlooney: ) are probably sick and tired of spectacular sunsets though... :lol2:

    We just got 5 inches of rain so if it stops we might have a spectacular sunset...nontheless here is one from the other night. I find that if there is moisture in the air, the sunsets are more brilliant.
