thats gonna be a beauty! love the green leaf bases, must be a yatay genes?

we have some many Butias locally I just call them all Butia sp. however looking up photos of yatay, are disntinct with longer leaves and a slightly more upright habit it seems. (not quite 'strictor)

keep us updated on this one! My mule from moultrie is really starting to look impressive.

Keith,

Good looking hybrid!!! Sure hope we see more of these in the years to come. I always thought this would have been a better looking hybrid than the Capitata mix.... Jv

Dang Merrill, if you think its special, I might actually protect it if it gets real cold. Why do you want to put that kind of stress on me, haha?

Bumping this for Tropicdoc. Above it the Yatay mule as planted in 2008. Now you can judge its growth rate. Just keep in mind that it has been blown to a 45 degree angle twice by hurricanes, and endured an all time record drought. In a good stretch it might have been even larger.
