So Cal Thunder? On the coast?

Am I hearing right? For the last half hour or so I've been hearing Thunder (NOT Camp Pendleton) yet I can't see any rain. Cool and poofy clouds. Pretty dark though in spots. All right here at the coast in Oceanside.

Anyone else hear it or get rain?

Its funny, I have to get ready for work, but I'd rather just sit and listen.

That's what happens when rain is an event, not the ordinary.

I can see the clouds over the mountains with rain out the bottoms. No thunder here yet though. I'd love it if moved over here and dumped on my place.

I woke up to a nice thunder clap this morning. Then it rained pretty hard for about 15 minutes. Then again an hour later for another ten minutes. Not worth much for water on the dusty dry ground at Manambe Lavaka, but it's good for rinsing off the leaves.

you could put pots & pans out when it rains if you need a change from the dogs licking them "clean."

I heard thunder as I was leaving for work this morning, but thought, "no, it's just a jet taking off". But the pre-dawn cloud formations were spectacular, and suddenly I saw a bolt of lightning shoot down from a big poofy cloud, that was a surprise. I could see it was raining from that one cloud in the distance, and the air was warm and still. Kind of a cool way to start the day.

I see it did rain while I was gone. :) Probably no more than a tenth of an inch though. :(

You probably find it hard to believe that a guy who lives in a humid subtropical cliimate with 60+ inches of annual rainfall can identify with this thread, but I can. We usually get all of our rain in winter and summer, with fall and spring droughts. This year our spring drought lasted through much of summer. I know the feeling of finally hearing thunder and wishing for rain, and how good it feels when it finally comes.

Now, of course the difference is here, when it finally does come, it might be 16" of rain over 3 days, and with a hurricane as its escort, as it was this summer.
