Most of my older fronds are showing yellow spots. I use Lesco or Suregrow 8-2-12, but my house was build on muck-fill which is mostly sand. Looks like I may need Potassium (K). Lesco has a combo called K-Mag. What dosage is anyone using, as I'm always afraid to overdose with any suppliments! Thanks, you folks are great!

Hi, Randy:

I'm from N. Fla., use KMag quite a bit because the K and Mg are in balance. I use it on large stuff in the ground, not small potted stuff.

Best Wishes,

I have also used it with good results. I am told to be carefull of over application as it may throw the rest of the nutrients into a tied up condition. Never had a problem though. For those of you who use Nutricote, they also have a version of this in coated form with a 9 month (Ithink) release.

Home Depot generally does not carry this item. I buy this from Lesco directly but they are now known as John Deere Landscapes. When I made my last purchase about 2 months ago, the guy said the new company does not want to deal with small fry business like me and I might not be able to purchase there in the future. Not sure how that will turn out. The product is a 0-0-20 Sulfate of Potash-Magnesia with 10% Magnesium and 21% Sulphur ratings. It is all water soluble with no poly coat so I throw down a little bit once a month on deficient plants. I too live on junk fill, but mine is canal dredge which is shells and coquina. My ph is in the high 7's making many palms difficult to grow to say the least.

Maybe wishful thinking, but if you can get an item#, you might be able to get your local John Deere dealer to order it for you.

This is the stuff! Used to called Lesco, now they're called John Deere

Landscapes. They cater to professional landscapers, but I've never had a problem purchasing anything. My money is as green as anyone elses. Call before you go, as they have consolidated, and have shut down a few locations.

Spent frond. The John Deere guy also mentioned that one of the ingredients of the 8-2-12 is going to be hard to get?, so took the last one!
