Hanna, Ike and Josephine

The Atlantic basin hurricane map is dotted with storms. This is looking more and more like 2004.

Watching that Penn.State site that Jason gave out.Shows Hanna hitting South Carolina with the left edge giving Eastern Florida some wind.Ike currently follows almost directly behind Hanna but further East.Josephine looks not too far off the African Coast and does not show up yet.Of course, all could change but I think we in South Florida have been very lucky in the critical August 15-September 15 Cape Verde window. That certainly does not rule out an October sidewinder like Wilma but it in no way resembles 2004.

I only hope thing's are better than expected regarding Gustav.Sometimes I think we have way too much information.

Right now Ike looks like the one to watch. Currently, the models are split on where it will go, although most have it becoming a fairly strong storm. One of the NOAA forecasters described the current Atlantic Basin climate as "complex".

Well, it's a bit hard finding a spot in the tropical north atlantic that doesn't have a hurricane in it. :(

I don't like the sound of a hurricane called "Ike". To me it has the connotation of aggression, someone that'll "punch your lights out". Sorry to all the gentle Ike's out there.

Ike just reminds me of Eisenhower. At times, he would have been the one to punch your lights out.

Or Ike Turner. He would punch your lights out, but only if you were a woman.....

Good luck everyone. I hope the eye will miss everyone... Hopefully it will speed up a little bit, the longer it stays over water, the more likely it will build up strength and size.

Regards, Ari :)

Ike could be a real problem for the east coast of Florida. Hopefully it will make the "hook" sooner than later.
