Hey everyone, I am just a little curious as whether anyone has done business with or ever heard of this nursery? I belong to another forum as well and we have been flooded with new members pushing this web site and nursery on us. I know many of you here are nursery men and women and a lot of collectors and wondering why I just now hear of this? Supposedly has been growing and selling for a decade. They became a bit angered because we had a little fun with their prices. But, maybe a nursery man can give a neutral opinion and perhaps some input on pricing. Thank You in advance! :hmm:

Mod Edit: We do not wish to give exposure to places like this. I have altered the website address.

They do the same thing with stocks and mutual funds ,,, They write favorable articles about financial products in the various financial magazines-- it helps to build demand and helps with the buzz-- I guess we could start talkign about it here to continue the "Buzz" on this forum

Did you see any unusual species in their inventory?

I'm no nurserywoman but that outfit's prices are outta sight and their selection looks like some people's dime-a-dozen, Dirty Dozen palm collection.

Their site looks aimed at interior decorators for snooty hotels, conference centers and other locations that don't mind paying top dollar. Some of the stuff they peddle I can find at HD & Walmart for cents on the dollar.

Too rich for me. Sounds like they have no sense of humor either.

it's all bull doo doo, looks like another ty ty or aarons bulb farm, alot of that stuff is against quarintine to ship into Texas, the pictures look like they chopped them off an acosta farms flyer, but with those prices you dont have to sell too many and I am sure there is a sucker a day who pops up with a credit card!!

lol The bananas that they are selling for $ 100-500, they buy for about $ 1 each and it takes a few months (if that for the 1-4' high) to grow them out. they don't even tell you what kind of banana it is. I despise that kind of nursery outfit. I would be rich if I could sell the bananas that I grow for those prices!

Is shipping included in the price? It should be for those prices.

I know that the local interior nurseries sell a 9' "bamboo palm" for about $250. This place wants $1850?

Between Ken and I, we probably know anybody and everybody here in South Florida in regards to the nursery industry. Especially palm nurseries. This website clearly avoids any nursery location, office, or anything. I suspect it's someone that just buys palms and resells them, mostly to the northern market. Their prices for one gives that away. And with no clear nursery location, this tells me that their a broker. Which is ok. Everyone of us is entitled to make money. I think when he/she has a customer with no clue with what a large palm is worth, he/she will locate it, and ship it. Simple as that.

Try sending them an email with a list of say,

Licuala tansachana

Calyptrocalyx awa

Dypsis mananjarensis

See if they come back to you, and with a price! :)

Some folks have a nursery & make a living selling palms...some just have a nifty website.

Seems like a well financed scam...and i'd bet whosever talkin it up is in on it.

What humours me is that they are REAL palmtrees.com and they are EXCLUSIVE. To suggest that real palm trees are few and far between is funny. True perhaps, in their case.

Thanks everyone. My thoughts are the same as Jeff suggested. I think they buy and resale. Tad also made a good point, someone will use the plastic and not think twice about the price. Obviously we all pretty much concur the same thoughts.

I was able to find out that they claim to have a nusery located in Englewood, FL 34223 .Thanks again!

I am no professional. But, with the prices in their site I think they could pay airfreight from Miami to Manaus and still have plenty left over. That is a very strange web site. I could also not see any mention of where they are located. I guess it is just a virtual palm business.

Wow, are you serious? That is my stomping ground. I can check it out this weekend. I live 5 miles north, but there are 3 nurseries along the road from Venice to Englewood, it HAS to be one of them. I can ask around, I am friends with one of the owners. Find me more info and I'll get to the bottom of this. :winkie:

My apologies to the moderator! Nice job of renaming them! That's pretty funny Tad, just as I had suspected! They probably buy from one of the three nurseries Christian is talking about then resale. I think Jeff was right, they probably thought they could get rich marketing the Northern states.

Amazing. I never knew Malayan Coconut was good down to 10 degrees F!

What a great site ! ( NOT)

Melbourne Beach, Florida on the barrier island -two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean and 6 homes from the Indian River Lagoon

I have driven by that house 100 times, there is nothing there. It is an old Florida neighborhood, slightly run down, right across from Cafe 776. Anyone want me to go and knock on the door? :winkie: It is also dangerously close to my ex-girlfriend's house, but I am willing to make a sacrifice for the palm community.

LOL! Christian I think we probably figured out what's happening, but hey, you know if your going to be in the neighborhood anyway, why not?

If you read the website carefully, you may notice that the way some of the wording comes out indicates (to me, sat least) that English is not the primary language of the person who writes the descriptions.

I Googled these guys and found the answer. They are an "online palm store and nursery", i.e. they are all about virtual reality, not actuality.
