The Fullerton Arboretum

I took a trip to the Fullerton Arboretum a few months back and snapped a few shots. The funny thing about this place is that I went to school there and had no idea this jewel was even there. At the time I was too blinded by women and partying to care about palms.

Then the dreaded dead battery happened. There was a bunch more good stuff I could not shoot. I need to buy a spare battery.

I just noticed this thread. Those upright/strict type Jubaeas might be the most impressive plant on earth.

They aren't exactly zone-pushing! That Ravenea rivularis is the most tender palm in the thread. Isn't Fullerton 10B?

Zone 9b/10a, Sunset Zone 22

7 miles inland. Elevation 120ft (37m)

Average annual low temp: 30F (-1C)

Average annual rainfall: 8" (20cm)

Hi Terry,

I don't know for sure what zone Fullerton is, but I know it stays warmer than me in the winter so you are probably right. They definitely are not pushing it much. Even so, it was a an impressive garden, much better in person than can be seen from my pictures. I hesitated to even post the pics because I figured the tropical crowd would let out a big yawn. But I figured there are enough cold hardy people here that would appreciate it. It got some views so I guess some enjoyed it.
