Hi all!

I have spoted some thin stipe latan palm. I think they can be blue latan palms. Here in Reunion Island, we have tons of red one, but blues are more rare. Anyone have an idea?

The pics have been taken late in the afternoon, that's why they are a little darky :/

Sadly, I didn't find any seeds (which helps alot to know which latan palm it is...)

Hi feuillade (It says that's your real name)

It can become difficult to differentiate species sometimes especially when they get older unless the fruit and seeds are available to observe.

I can only add a photo of a Latania loddigesii growing at my city botanic gardens to compare. It looks the same as yours.

Beautiful photos! I have never seen a Latania with a trunk so slender and curvy. I would say it is a Latania loddigesii, since the leaves appear to be slightly recurving and narrow. You live on a beautiful island!

I'm always up for learning new things!

Hi ffeuillade,

It good to hear that the native palm from Reunion Island is still widespread.
