after getting cranked-up on coffee it was time for the next temple(surprise).

here is the top of the longest set of stairs i've ever seen.

later that day i ran into my old buddy nick.he kicks butt at chess despite a serious head wound.

the next day we looked for another hotel near kedewatan.

could these tall palms be a pinanga sp.?

large spider which can inflict a serious bite.

Paul, those scenes are magnificent. So lush and green. And those rice paddies with those coco-thingies look great too.

Those palms in your last post look like Actinorhytis calapparia.

at one of my fave restos in kedewatan--"nasi ayam" cheap eats & super-tasty.

our next hotel was a reasonably priced affair in ubud up the hill from the tjampuhan(up one of the steepest streets i've

ever seen).

heres a basic room.

the next morning at breakfast i saw this nice bamboo while i was having kopi bali & sliced fruit.

this plant was in the bathroom of my hotel room.looks like a ti plant but kinda not--what do u think?

as an aside this hotel gets some low marks becuz right behind the wall u see behind me were roosters that started to crow at 4 am

& a guy who started practicing his drumming "skills" at about 6 am.

the girls were not up yet so i took a walk up the street.never been up this way before...

found a cool old hotel that looked inviting(nice palmage) so i decided to scout it out.
