Right now my Spindle is growing like gangbusters. A new spear started growing even before the previous spear had finished completely opening it's leaves, and the new spear is growing at a rate of about 3 inches per week. I call that fast.

However, being a new owner of Areca vestiaria and Carpoxylon macrospermum, they are healthy so far but each has yet to start a new spear since the previous leaves have opened. ( about 1 month ago)

Does anyone know about how long it takes for a new leaf spear to appear on these palms in a healthy environment after the previous leaf has opened?

Thanks.

Dave,

while I cannot directly answer your question, I'll bump your therread up some.

However, are you growing these palms outdoors? Or in pots where you can bring them in during winter nights?

I recently got a spindle at Walmart large overgrown 1 gallon for $5.97. I am not going to even fool with it in my climate however and I am going to south florida to plant it on my grandpas farm. where hopefully can get a more exotic garden going there.
