Do you have any suggestions other than Pothos for vines to go up palm trees?

Specifically I have a queen (just 1) that is sun exposed most of the day. What is a good vine with a tropical look for that. Something big leafed. I have seen Monstera Delicosa but that can get away from you quick. THANKS.

Secondly - what are good vines for So Cal coastal for a tropical look. I know there are many philodendron other than Selloum and Ventircosum. Naturally the more beautiful the better.

Jeff,

I had to compromise on a vine for a cold damaged trunk on a Queen palm. I can't grow the exotic philodendrons, so I planted a passion fruit. I did have to put up screen around the trunk so the vine would hold on. It's covered the damaged trunk and the flowers are nice too. I'm sure you have more options in your climate. I did consider the red trumpet vine, but I'm told they get out of hand. Would sure look nice to have red flowers up and down the trunk.

If you have time, try climbing cacti such as Epiphyllum and Hylocereus. They'll take awhile to establish, but will not overtake the growing tip, and they'll provide attractive large flowers, albeit nocturnal ones.

SoCal and SoFla; zone varies by location.

I've seen around here only Ivy - Hedera helix, growing up on palm trunks sun exposed.

You should be able to get some Philo superbum , I have seen it growing to perfection in sub-tropical Brisbane . It has very close internodes so will only climb very slow . Here is a mature plant on a Cuban Royal .

Funny, I just took a bunch of this off a foxtail yesterday! (It still looked good, just sort of blocked the view of the fish pond). Not sure if it is cold-hardy enough for SoCal or how much sun it will take though.
