Found this in our local newspaper, but....

Heart of Palm

Living in Paradise, Leeward O`ahu, Hawai`i, USA
Temperature range yearly from say 95 to 62 degrees F
Only 3 hurricanes in the past 51 years and no damage. No floods where I am, No tornados, No earthquakes
No moles, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, etc. Just the neighbors "wild" chickens

I feel like the vegetarian just handed a plate of broiled beef hearts. And the picture of the guy carrying a section of palm as tall as he is broke my heart. By the way, what species of palm give their lives for this culinary delight?

Man I had no idea that the palm tree is not killed when harvesting heats of palm.   Thanks for the link.

Yeah, Bactris grasipes is a clumper (usually) and you can take one or two trunks and leave the remaining for next seasons harvest...  :)  Mmmmm  salads.  :D

Speaking on clumping palms that often need thinned out to look their best, is Dypsis lutescens edible? Anyone every tried it ???
