There are about 420,000 people without power in my county, Broward at the moment. I just got power back for the first time all day, about 10 minutes ago. The streets are a complete disaster without working traffic lights. People do not seem to know what a 4-way stop is. If you can, do not get on the streets.

NBC 6

We just now got a tornado warning for Eastern Central Broward County if this wasn't enough. Broward is getting it today...

CNN is reporting that 1 million people are without power throughout the rest of Florida. Two to three million people are without power in the Tri-county area, as of 2:30 PM. The Turkey Point Nuclear Power plant, our local fission power plant, has been shut down due to overload alarms. Eight other power plants have also been shut down, might be more on the way.

The trains have been shut down in Miami-Dade county, along with School Bus service. Millions of kids will need to be picked up at their schools by their relatives, until bus service is restored at 4 PM. Broward Schools are on 'soft' lockdown for added fun. There have already been the movie-like reports of pregnant women stuck in elevators. 911 Phone service will probably crash in the near future with the volumn of calls they are getting. A day of fun and hurricane-like thrills in South Florida today.

Ryan,

I was really surprised when I heard this on the radio this afternoon.  We never lost power here in Deerfield, but west of us in Parkland, they did.  The radio said that 4 million people between Daytona and Key West lost power.  Unusual how it skipped around to different cities like that.   Just a little confusion to make our days a little more interesting.

Spent the afternoon drinking at a strip club. Power flickered for a few seconds 'til generator kicked in. Got paid for most of the day, then walked home...
