btw- do any of you Floridians here know of or can tell me about the bromeliad guy in St Petersburg that has the growhouse in his backyard and sells on the web from time to time? Seems that he had a website.... and it was mentioned either here or over at the 2ndlight.com gardening forum a year or two ago.

My bride scored some great broms from last year.

I'm a casual fan of Neoregalia.  Plants under the oak tree proliferate, so occasionally it's a good idea to dig them up, put back as many as needed, and give the left-over ones to friends.

PalmsZA's comments on producing variegated plants from seed were intriguing.  It's understandable that the non-variegated plants would grow a lot faster.
