This weekend, I planted 3 Majesty Palms, 1 Cat Palm, 4 Lady Palms, 1 King Palm, and 1 Triangle Palm.  I also planted 4 Azaleas and 4 of my 8 new Natchez Crepe Myrtles.   What did you do.  Tell us all about it, and post pictures too if you have them.

This picture shows the 3 new Majesty Palms.

Because Mr. Knee was bothering me, I did absolutely nothing, except put on a brace and water . . . .

Uh, well, not so ambitious as you, Keith.  Hand pulled a very small number of weeds, put a  few tillandsias on a stump (raffle goodies from the brom society meeting).  Enjoyed breakfasts and lunches on a sunny patio, and initiated the barbecue season with a little pollo al mattone, that is good news!  It means spring is really coming.  (Sorry, no pics.)  Watered everything inside and out, and packed my bags for a major trip.

Keith, You really do have spring fever! I have a few things to plant, but I will wait a few weeks mostly because my soil is so wet right now. I was itching to play in the garden this weekend, so I pulled weeds, sprayed Round-Up, spread granular weed preventers, put down 20 bags of mulch in two of my front beds (need about 30 more bags to complete the front), trimmed brown leaves, etc. I removed a Syagus romanzoffiana that was beginning to trunk because it was too close to other palms. I planned to remove the Ravenea rivularis, but didn’t thanks to the forum members. I’m already thinking about my list for next weekend!

Keith,

Majesties and Kings eh?  Those burn to a crisp here every single year when we drop into the upper 20's.  Do you plan to protect them?

What??  You didn't get the ticket I sent?!? :D   You better get scrambling, the plane leaves Thursday.   :D   And sorry, no room to stuff you in the luggage.  I promise to completely overwhelm everyone with photos, but it will be a huge guessing game.  "Hey, look at this cool palm, what is it?" will be the most common photo caption.

You really know you are going somewhere different when your guide advises you to bring long pants and wide rubber bands to keep the leeches out. :P

Yep, and sooner or later they will burn to a crisp.  These have been around for a while and 2 of the 4 were starting to trunk in the pots.  I am even gonna stick a Royal out there too.  They might make a few years as I am placing them in very nice microclimates, but that is it.  No protection.  If they go, ce la vie.

They are cheap enough nowadays to grow as annuals anyway.

I have been cleaning up a bit but am waiting untill the end of the month to start planting out. We haven´t had frost yet but I prefer to play it safe.

I was in Key West for a long weekend. I was surrounded by big, beautiful and lots of rare palms in three different gardens. Palm overload.....and loving every minute of it. :)
