Here was a picture of the table of palm books being offered for sale. Something happened with the upload, sorry could not find a way to delete.

Two chess sets were being offered for sale by the Society. They are carved from Palm Ivory and looked nicely done.

Ray - Of course there were. I personally purchased an Arenga hookeriana, Coccothrinax hiorami (wild collected from cuba), Coccothrinax montana (from Dominican Republic) and Dypsis tokoravenia. Most of the day was spent the schmoozing with friends and talking palms. Today I will look for some gems and post some pictures.

I know that Ron, rozpalm got that hugh Zamia parasectica (sic) in the hanging basket for a very good price. An epiphetic cycad that was very impressive! And of course Mike Harris, Caribbean Palms has a vast selection of caribbean palms.

I am sure we will run into each other soon.

I really messed up that spelling. The cycad I referred to above is a Zamia psuedoparasitica. I am ready to post more photos now, just got home via a tow truck after a front blow out on I-95 in a less than savory neighborhood.

Sure is nice to be back home in the air conditioning, I'm not even going to mow the grass today!

OK Ray - here are some palms I found interesting and worth sharing with the forum.

Here is Terri, daughter of Betty pdleft and the first daughter of the Palm Beach Palm and Cycad Society. It was very early and Terri had not even made her face yet. She looks great sans the make-up and is recently single  . Mom wants to know "are there any Doctors out there?" Terri is holding a very nice Rhapis excelsa variegata. I am sure she will punch me the next time she sees me for this post. :crying:

The next is a hugh Kentiopsis oliviformis in a 25 gallon container. I will be reporting the palms by the size of the container as I did not have anything for scale as I was running around looking for interesting species, cultivars and crosses.

Next: A very nicely grown Dypsis crinita. (15 gallon) You gotta love that "hairy" stem. This palm also has a red emergent leaf. Great palm if you can give it enough water. B)

Ed those are not fan (palmate) leaves, they are actually pinnate leaves that have not spit from a palm endemic to the Seychelles, Verschaffeltia splendida.

Wow  a Dypsis decipiens clustering. (7 gallon) This is not very common at all but not unheard of. I have never seen one cluster ever. My success rate with this species is 0% so although it was a great deal, I was afraid of my track record with this one. I guarentee that if Bill Sanford was here he would have snatched this palm up this one in a NY second without even looking at the price on the tag! :hmm:

Next: Veitchia X Wodyetia bifurcata variegated, Variegated Foxy Ladies (7 gallon) over 7 ft. tall :mrlooney: . These palms are so cool they should be called the Jimi Hendrix palm B)
