Hey, you are right.  It is February.  Should have posted this here "A couple of days ago, the weather service predicted a low of 38, which for me usually means 39.  Instead I woke up to 33.  A few sensitive things I left out are really unhappy about life right now  

But today, it is a perfect spring day.  Sunny, highs today around 75.   I know better than to be sucked in at this time of the year, but it sure is tempting.  Makes you want to go out and plant, plant, plant"

It's the blue part of the map that I don't like. All of Jan. has been very blue in California. I think there has only been a couple of days above 60F at my place.  Normally, I could expect a few clear warmish days in Jan., but there has hardly been any breaks as one front after another keeps smashing in. On the positive side, the mountains are deep with wet snow, and the cloud cover has prevented freezing night time temps.

It is looking like Spring!

It has been getting to around 80F the past couple of days with lows to around 60F and is supposed to stay that way for another couple days. A little cooldown by the end of the week to highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s.

I already started planting some stuff in late January. It is a gamble, but so far everything has been loving this warm weather.

Big freezes become less likely every day, but an odd frost still may be in the cards before winter is over completely.

This is the 8th day I have yet to hit 50F. This morning it took 5 minutes to get the ice of my car, I didnt move to CA for this! Yesterday we had a lovely coating of hail. My palms are taking a hit, many of the dypsis's are wearing down. I hope everything is ok. It looks like we will see some sun, and tomorrow it will hit 50+!

Earlier this year, the map said that we would have little rain and average temps. I have had a total of 22 inches at my place, way above normal. I tell you everything is nice and green over here and the drout in so-cal has taken a huge dent, nearly erased. Theres some good news.

The weather man lied. Yesterday never got above 50F, and it was breezy and felt much colder. This morning at 5 AM it's clear as a bell, no wind, and 32F and still dropping. Still no daylight yet, but I'm sure there is a very white frost this morning and some ice in the rain buckets.

We're averaging 22C min 36C max so far. Thunder and lightening around the place and hopefully rain for the next couple of days and mid 30's C. Very hot so far, and well above average.

Keith, two things I always have a click of a key away is the Temp. conversion table and PACSOA for botanical spellings and palm identification. It makes life much eaiser.

I did.  Planted 2 Majesty Palms under the protective custody of a large Live Oak, and a Triangle under same but out on the edge where it will get a full 4-6 hours of sun.

Round 2.  Went back out and planted a Raja Puri banana, a Climbing Clothilde Soupert rose on an arbor, and a Lee's Tropical Citrus.  The last was a gift, some little 3 inch tall Citrus tree gift from SoFl meant for tourist.  Survived the winter without much help so I planted it.  Full of thorns, so is probably a Sour Orange or something like that.  Hey, I got 3 acres so why not.

Past trends continue warm weather for the Southeast  :cool: this is late winter for your latitude. Besides, a newly planted Majesty can be quickly moved in without disturbing the palm too much, right?

Wish it was as warm in Cali   a couple cold nights ahead

Yep, more years than not, as far as real freezes, it is all over.  Heck, for many years it is all over for even frosts.  And, I have these palms planted where frost is not an issue.  

Next to go in the ground is a Royal and a King.  Now they are more of a long shot here, but I will put them into the ground next to a south facing brick wall.  That is as good as it gets here.  Still a long shot, but maybe I will enjoy for a few years before they get zapped.

Sorry for the C temps. I can't think in anything but Celcius. To convert my statements, here in Perth we are averaging 72F min and 97F max. Right now near midnight its 86F.

Hi,

A little gray day's we have got with midl tempeture's but also rain.... For now there come a dry period! From to morrow so far i can see (next wednesday) Tempeture's for the day will be 10-13C/50-55.4F Normal daytemps for Februari are around the 6C/42.8F als the night tempeture's will be normal around the 1C/33.8 ... we will have got that tempeture's... Because the whole day will be sunny and clear night's give it a change too cool off...

If it is a more degree warmer it's felling already for spring over here... A lot of plants and trees are already growing!! New leaves are coming, and flowers.... Nature is too early again!

It's been really nice around here lately.  Came home last night at about 10PM and it was 70F w/ 70% humidity.  Low was 65.  I almost want to let my guard down, but unfortunately, we've got some low 40's coming next week.

Past La Nina's have been drier but overall characterized by colder than normal temps as evident this winter.  Spring may be cooler than we would like

Fantastic weather over here.... Daytempeture's around the 11C/51.8 in the north to 14C/57.2 in the south... i live in the south same tempeture's for tomorrow and also the whole next week are the same tempeture's... And all day's the sun will be shining! Because the weather is clear the nights cooling off, but that give's some tempetures around the 0C/32F, for my region is that around the 2-3C/35.6-37.4F...

Normal daytempeture must been 6C/42.8F ... a lot of plants and tree show already new growth... the are sooooooo early! When you are outside it's almost feeling like spring...

Here in the US Gulf South we will have a stunningly beautiful spring weekend.   Full sun both days,  mid 70s, and finally the soil has dried enough to work it, and plant some things.   I have a very long list of garden work to do today and I can't wait.

It was a beautiful morning today.  No rain for a change.  I happened to notice this park close to my house that I had not seen from this angle before.  I thought it was a good view of the weather this morning.  This was at about 8 AM.  The place has a lot of beautiful Euterpe precatorias, Oenocarpus bataua and few Mauritias.  The rainiest month of the year here is coming up in March.

I was surprised at the view myself. I drive by this park from the other side all the time.  And, I have never stopped to look around.  This shot is from the parking garage of a small shopping center in our part of town.  It looks out toward downtown.  I guess I will have to go back and look at it more closely.

Got down to 41.5F/5.3C this morning. Mid 30's at several more inland stations like in Brandon, some low 50's right near the bay and gulf in Pinellas County, several low to mid 40's in Pinellas county also though. Cold!

Yes.....a bit of a cold zap this AM.  46F at my house at 515AM, but it warmed up fast after that.  It was 52F at the USF coastal station here in Tarpon Springs.  The widns were very light (if at all) most of the night, so the areas near water were much warmer than interior spots.

Hi pressure along the West Coast [except PacNW] often creates an opposite downward  flow  to the east [sort of a yin/yang effect].  Minimums across the LA foothills have ranged from upper 50's to near 70F   in warmest favored locations/above 1000' /3408cm. Below in the basin upper 40's to mid 50's.  Some of these locations are within 10 miles w/ a 20+ degree range.

We had the coldest night of the winter sofar with a low of 2F this morning and now we are under a winter storm watch for up to a foot so new snow. It really sucks to live in New York State.

A nasty thunderstorm came in from the north around noon today.  The worst storms come from the north.  Normally the weather here comes in from the east.  I was caught in traffic and had to stop to avoid getting washed away.  Lightening was hitting all around and it was a great sight to witness.  I have always liked thunderstorms.  I think it would be nice if more people regularly posted pictures of their weather.  At least for me it is interesting to see what things look like around the globe.

Bill, your low was 42?  If so, you were warmer than much of pinellas, McDill AFB and basically everything else except what was right on the water.

Low in Miami?  58!
