The good news is I can still capture the new leaf from the roof, the bad news is it's only 15' (4.5m) from the house. Well, neither the house or the
palm can't be moved so it's going to work no matter what.
It throws only two leaves a year, but looking at the mass of each one, that's a heck of a lot of work. Planted from a 5 gallon back in mid 2008 it continues to slowly grow larger and larger and I imagine it may start to trunk in a couple more years.

If there's any palm I visit at least once a day (and often more) it's this Lemur palm in my front yard. Besides its colorful nature, it's the fastest growing palm I own. This is supposed to be a tropical palm and yet it continued growing all winter through chilly and mild periods alike. Each time a new spear appears it's redder than the last. The spear pictured just appeared three days ago and is really popping. I hope I can nurture it to maturity.
Can any of you with maturing examples of this species post pictures? Are any of you outside the tropics growing this too?

Well, I have had various ones of these some of you know and think they are actually more hardy than most think.. BUT I've had a few die, mostly to me letting them go dry when they weren't ready for it...
ANYWAY, I decided to give this small 5 gal Lemurophoenix halleuxii a chance in the ground.

Taking a cue from DoomsDave with my title... two of my three Lemurophoenix halleuxii are having a synchronized frond opening. Here they are two mornings ago...
The largest in the middle has a spike, but it will grow much more before opening. The two smaller palms sport the color.
