its hard not to be hungry when the food is SO GOOD!

100_0339.jpg

offerings are everywhere.the balinese are very religious without being "in your face" about it.

Paul,

did you get a picture of the view from the jacuzzi? If you did, I would sure like to see it.

               Thanks, Mike

Paul,

I meant to mention that I liked that picture a lot. I think that view alone would be worth a trip there. What are all the structures with the thached roofs used for? (in the panoramic photo)

                        Regards, Mike

the views are killer, but there are many more reasons to go--the food, the people, the culture are all wonderful!

the thatch-roofed buildings next door are part of a large

& expensive new hotel.a room can be had pretty reasonably now since the tourism business has been

struggling since the kuta bombing.

glad you like the pix, bob!you would love it there!amazing plants wherever you look.

Paul, I love the photos through the waterfall, especially the Cyrtostachys.  Is it perforated bamboo that gives the droplet effect?  Great travelog as usual of Bali.  How about posting some photos of the loot you bought?  Oh yeah, spotted the Grenada T-shirt.  Where did you pick that up?

That Dypsis may be D. madagascariensis. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Robert

Great photos Paul! I must be one of the only aussies who hasn't been to Bali. It used to be such a popular destination from here, until the bombings. One day I'll get there...

Both of those unidentified Dypsis look like D.madagascariensis to me.

regards,

Daryl

glad you enjoy the pix!

robert i believe it was perforated bamboo or pipe.i will work on some "loot" photos.the grenada tshirt came from a local 2nd hand shop.each year for our trip i try & do a different tshirt theme.last year was rock & roll and

this year was different countries.

daryl the nicest tourists we meet in bali are always aussies :) its like going to mexico for those of us in socal

but its so close sometimes its taken for granted.

thanks for the id,looks like we have a consensus!

kris the stream that you see in these photos is not the main part of the river,so i am not sure what the name of it is.it may be part of a large river we were close to called the agung river.

i don't remember much from my college days, for some

reason :P

Yeah Paulito, we need to support each other's music!! We are playing at the Leucadian in Encinitas this Friday night around 10pm. I know it's a long drive for you but there is no cover and it will be a great show if you can make it. I'm planning on going to your CD release show with a few friends!!  :D

Paul,

Very cool.  So much color in the tropics, where plants do much better...

Strange to see a dypsis madagascariensis all the way in Bali!!!
