Corypha in San Diego

Recommended Posts

James760

Came across this Corypha in SD while staying in La Jolla.  Pictures don't do justice. It's spectacular! Owner may be here on palmtalk & if so, I'd love to know when it was planted & from what size?  There was a ton of over palms but only snapped a quick pic of this Corypha, didn't want to intrude.

I’ve seen it as well, it’s really something. I think there’s an older thread that had some pics from a few year back..

Since I'm sure there are not TWO Coryphas in La Jolla/San Diego... so here is a link to it..

Got it! Thanks Bill for the link.  It looks like it grew quite a bit since last year. I wish I used my daughter as a reference but she didn't want to get out lol. I'd put overall height about 20ft. + now!

Coryphas are gigantic palms. Thought should be given before they are planted. Saw a house with a couple of Coryphas planted a little too close and the owner was thinking about dynamite...

That’s how you unlock the secret to “explosive growth”.

It’s on a thread when there was a Palm mtg in Mt Soledad a lot of people drove by and talked to owner.  There’s pic on that Mtg thread

Yes. Upon driving up that hill, you'll see gorgeous palms.

Well done Steve! I frequently work in the area and try to drive by when I can... Just last week I was thinking how big and great looking it was and should post an update! Yay!
