A couple of hints. Pictured is a part of an unopened inflorescence. I asked Ken Johnson a few months ago about growing this palm where I live and he said "no good".

There is just a wisp of a hint in the picture but not enough to give it away.

Not a Licuala. This one didn't grow for you either if I remember our conversation correctly. And this one doesn't like our summers.

I had other pictures of the same specimen, which I photographed specifically for this thread. Can't find them.

Ken I've been looking at your picture long and hard and some of the guesses that were already made were the first ones to come to mind. But with all those No's from you I have to say - Corypha umbraculifera

Dang Alex you are good. Genus is correct. Should be easy to correct species.

Yes. Can you see the faint image of the teeth on the petiole? Light color indicates utan most of the time.
