While this is a common enough species here in south Florida, the fiber on the leaf bases seemed different to me:

Ding, ding, ding!!! Yes, it is a coconut. Anyone know which variety? I haven't seen anything quite like it.

Ding, ding, ding!!! Yes, it is a coconut. Anyone know which variety? I haven't seen anything quite like it.

It's at Everglades Botanical in Davie. It is not a Fiji Dwarf (we have those and they are very different), and based on Alex's comment, it might not even be a coconut! Ideas anyone?

If this wasn't in South Florida I would guess Parajubaea torallyi. This being in S. Florida could it possibly be a Cocos x Butia?

I just talked to Stan and he says it is Beccariophoenix madagascariensis... Wow, was I wrong! And double wow, that is the nicest one I have ever seen here in Florida!
