A little of the pink left on a new leaf of Dypsis Sp. "pink crown". I got so lucky and found this

at a local nursery in a 25 gallon size with 8 ft of trunk. It is just starting to put out immature seed.

Peter- that's one impressive Chambey leaf. most of the time the new leaves on chambeys here are more on the brown side during summer. I guess because of the heat

Colin - An 8 foot trunk on a Dypsis crown shaft?? that's a real find. None that big over here yet just seedlings mostly

Nice Iguanura. Everytime, I buy one, their leaves split... I can't seem to find one that stays entire.

Bill - Always love seeing your palms. They are so well grown and your selection of palms is awesome. You have a lot of my favorites and "must haves"

Last night I recorded new leaves with my trusty Samsung.

Chambeyronia macrocarpa - starting the fade to green but still nice

post-1349-005903700 1303311614_thumb.jpg

Dypsis boiviniana - showing a hint of red

post-1349-094950400 1303311695_thumb.jpg

Dypsis pinnatifrons - After my last keeled over in the shade garden last winter I said, "No more." But the price was good and I couldn't resist another. But it will never be planted.

post-1349-089425100 1303311818_thumb.jpg

Dypsis sp pink crownshaft (or is it D. pinnatrifrons too?)

post-1349-085148700 1303311878_thumb.jpg post-1349-077655100 1303311901_thumb.jpg

Dypsis utilis - it now has two stems & both are putting out bronze new leaves

Thanks Kumar and Gene. I'm envious of all the great palms in this thread. Can't wait 'til my potted Licuala 'Mapu' starts showing mottling and split leaves. (It has a way to go - it's just a yearling.)

Well, my pics could be suited to this topic, too

bmbljugwehrsczw41.jpg

even if the two palms shown are not so spectacular...

bmorx61whpjuwwf1p.jpg

but, I had my share of horror autumn last year with swarming desert locusts who did a lot of damage, mostly to new leaves.

Extremely hard act to follow, with folk from the Philippines, Hawaii, Costa Rica and North Queensland, but I'll try.

Beginning with Areca vestiaria. These are two different vestys in picture.
