Hi,

I recently read here about these palms and really like it. Any one knows about it?? Cool Facts?? Photos ?? I dont know if these are cultivated, but they are beautiful, especially Metroxylon amicorum and Hyphaene ventricosa. It will be great to grow them! :)

Some photos of Metroxylon amicorum:

Fruits and seeds from two distant species of vegetable ivory palms: Metroxylon amicorum from the Caroline Islands of Micronesia (left) and Hyphaene ventricosa from the Zambezi River of Africa (right). The seeds are so hard that it takes a hacksaw blade to cut then in half.

Seeds are used as ivory...
