I've noticed that seems to be a common one around my place! :mrlooney:

Ravenea rivularis from Madagascar ! :D

Old Beach ,Hobart
Tasmania ,Australia. 42 " south
Cool Maritime climate

Lol.. Yup, Majesty Palm!

Cultivation:

Full sun, and LOTS of water. A very fast grower if the water is kept up to it. Also likes a yearly dose of Epsom Salts, because its not very efficient at taking up magnesium. If it doesn't get enough magnesium, the leaves take on a rather unhealthy yellow colour.

Oh, yeah, a Majesty Palm, Ravenea rivularis, lots of water, lots of space, lots of girth, lots of lots of LOTS

Oh boy is it in the WRONG spot then. Planted near the exit of the car wash at my local gas station. Right up against a wall.

Yes, that majesty palm is in the wrong spot. One day it may tower over the roof of that building.

Mad about palms

Walt - I see some possible holes in your trunks. Are there some critters setting up house ? :interesting:

Those majesty palms aren't mine, but I noticed those dark spots (holes?) myself. I take photos of these palms every 2-3 years and I don't recall seeing those spots/holes, etc., before.

Great pictures, Walt!

Shows the majesties living up to their name, holes in the trunks or not . . .
