Two weeks on The Big Island!

Stayed at Jerry and Cindy Anderson's place and it was out of this world! Couldn't ask for better hosts. Forgot the camera when we crashed PALM MOD's pad. Bummer. Got to meet Bo for more than a layover in Atlanta and his wife for the first time. Tempted fate at Pele's front door. Cleaned off with a Filthy Farmgirl. Got my foot stuck in a lavatree and am still here to tell the story. Found my future home. Dodged Da Hui's aerial onslaught. Ate too much Katsu Loco Moco. Enjoyd da kine Ono Double Deckers with Luquin. Saw daylight color shows and Gil from Nemo in the same breath. Met too many stinky dogs, didn't step in it. Saw three different colored sands at various beaches. Envisioned Kamehameha killing contenders on Pu'ukohola. Dodged the tourist traps, ended up at Walmart and Costco. Drank 4 peanut bruddahs at What's Shakin'. Fell in love with PAH-pah-ee-KO and want the point project to perish. Ended up helping myself to some P hildebrantii seeds inside the airport only to find a second ag inspection right before boarding, don't worry palm lovers, they allowed the stash to pass....

There was a heap more but I'm tired of typing, you're probably tired of readin and I wanna post these pics! B) There's little rhyme or reason to the order of my pics other than I took pics as I saw something worth seeing. I've got a couple gigs of photos and will post the majority but I'm skippin the play by play - ask questions if you want id's... I can ID a good portion of it... Until we get to the dypsis' - nobody can id those!

Aloha, Bill & April! We are glad ro see that you survived your 2 weeks, on the Big island and had a wonderful time! Your pictures are beautiful and look forward to the rest of them.

We equally enjoyed you both, as our neighbors, for your time here and you are both welcome back anytime.

I especially enjoyed, that you both enjoyed your floral fauna, arrangements in your house. This is something I enjoy doing and I do not often know, if it is appreciated as guests arrive and now I realize it is! Thank you for the compliments, all the way around! Mahalo for your companionship and sorry if our adopted pets, (AKA- Stinky, or known as Aki were a little much to handle! They seem to enjoy our guests a little more than they should! Hope to see you both in the future, Much Mahalo, Cindy Andersen

Bill nice photos and I'm sure you had a good time with all that nice scenery. My wife tells me I want to take her photos next to the palms only to get a photo of the palm :) but of course I assure her otherwise. Anticipating more photos of your trip.

Wow sure looks like you you've been through a lot in just 2 weeks. First few pictures indicate palm overload already.

I hope (am actually sure) there are more pictures.

Cindy, no worries about Aki, he was not the only stinky dog we met! It was no thing at all. Half a dozen stinky random dogs across the island made for a funny conversation on our return journey. :)

These are pictures of a 15 mile hike across closed trails and geologically unstable lands to the Pu'u O'o, The mouth of an active Volcano. Curious was smater than I and stayed behind while I crossed the lava field and shredded my legs while I fell thru 1" thick lava plains. Got my foot stuck a couple times and filled up my shoes with all kinds of gravel. In retrospect this was a very foolish activity and I wouldn't advise anyone to do this, but I'm glad I did it.

The forest just stopped growing there. I was told the sulfuric gasses that are constantly spewing from the vent prohibit the plants from thriving much closer. This is a view from the top looking back across the lava field.
