Otto also gave us a small camellia as a good luck charm, so to speak.

We have always been extremely fond of this style 🤗

They're very popular here.

That's exciting to hear, Sean, that this species is very popular where you live. As far as we've seen, it's much more common here in southern Switzerland and southern Ticino, where the climate is much milder than here all year round.

Thank you very much for the link.

They are very low-maintenance. Dig a hole and drop them in. Most are good to -17°C

@SeanK @Mazat @happypalmsHave you ever been to the American Camellia Societies Massee Lane Gardens in Macon Georgia? For camellia lovers it's an amazing sight to see when in season.  Here's a taste of what you may find.

Never been to America as of yet, but if it’s like anything that is done in America I could only imagine the scale and beauty of such an event!

Another camellia fan here. I mean, what's not to like apart from the fact they need acidic soil. Nice one @Mazat!

I love my Camellia japonica 'curly lady'; the branches are indeed wavy/curly and that makes it look so unusual. It is now about to bloom for the first time, I'll post photos!

I have not been to Massee Lane. I think it's in Fort Valley.  Here's a camellia allegedly hardy to USDA z6a. Long Island Pink

You are correct, I was distracted typing that reply.  Massee Lane is in Fort Valley,  just below Macon. If you love camellias, it's really worth the drive. They have some massive ones. The town also has some nice old palmettos and some other palms here and there.

Nice. Depending on variety, you will have blooms between Christmas and Easter.
