Otto also gave us a small camellia as a good luck charm, so to speak.

We have always been extremely fond of this style 🤗

That's exciting to hear, Sean, that this species is very popular where you live. As far as we've seen, it's much more common here in southern Switzerland and southern Ticino, where the climate is much milder than here all year round.

They are very low-maintenance. Dig a hole and drop them in. Most are good to -17°C

Another camellia fan here. I mean, what's not to like apart from the fact they need acidic soil. Nice one @Mazat!

I love my Camellia japonica 'curly lady'; the branches are indeed wavy/curly and that makes it look so unusual. It is now about to bloom for the first time, I'll post photos!

Zone 9b: if you love it, cover it.

You are correct, I was distracted typing that reply. Massee Lane is in Fort Valley, just below Macon. If you love camellias, it's really worth the drive. They have some massive ones. The town also has some nice old palmettos and some other palms here and there.
