Show us your Cycas revoluta, whether it's planted outside, in a pot, or indoors, no matter how big or small it is.

We think it's a wonderful exotic plant that doesn't get enough attention ...

Here's mine this morning. No protection, besides an outstanding microclimate, on the first one and just a blanket on the second one after 14'F in December.

You have some very nice specimens there, Dan 🤗 . Where exactly in the USA do you live? I'm asking to see if you could plant the plant there, and because of the USDA climate zone. Then we can also see what climate you have, the lowest temperatures of the last 30 years, and so on.

Wonderful, Kevin. Happy New Year, belatedly. I hope you are well. She likes your climate.

14 F are deep and she has come through it well, she is tough, joy reigns 🤗

I get much to cold here in the northeastern US to plant any cycads outside. I’m either zone 4 or 5 where I am. I just checked and I seem to be 7a. I know we have gotten colder then the average for the zone ( I’ve seen -11F at least) so not sure how accurate the zone design is

@Mazat Thanks man and Happy New Year to you as well. I did a video of them recently on my YouTube channel. It's linked in my bio if you wanna check it out. I don't provide any extra heat other than blankets, etc... Four winters ago I had a flash freeze and an ultimate low of 3-5'F depending on what side of my yard you're on.  They survived that, which to me is amazing.

You're welcome. Thank you very much too.

It's really impressive that she managed to do that, what a great true story. Yes, thanks for the link, I'll be happy to take a look.

It's sunny here all day long, with cloudless nights, resulting in very low temperatures that feel colder than in previous years, but better now than if it were to continue into February and March.

Yes, I would keep a close eye on it. Perhaps you have several thermometers, in which case you could check what the microclimate is like in your garden in winter and find a more sheltered spot where they might have a chance. They are quite hardy plants, but it's better to check first—it would be a shame to lose one or more exotic plants. I've done that with the thermometer before and it helped.

These are technically my wife's, but I've been tending them for years. I'm going to guess they're 25 years old.

Inside for the winter, although this week is going to be nice.  They've gotten heavy over the years and I generally don't just move them on a whim.

This winter has been mild so far, hopefully it stays that way
