Hello,

I picked up a small one of these.  Anyone have any local info on growing these?   Eventual size?  Any potential issues with the roots?

Thank you

Nice find. Not one you'd find for sale all that often here.

Size wise?  Most specimens I've seen range between 12 to 15-ish ft in height.  More water ( deep infrequent irrigation, esp. in summer ) = taller / lusher specimen.

Can drop it's leaves in winter in cooler areas but have seen a few that stayed green ..or mostly green.. all year.

Very drought and cold tolerant.

Flowers in mid spring locally. Flowers are slightly fragrant as well.

Never heard of root related issues with this sp. but most specimens I've seen are located in larger gardens.

No thorns ..that I noticed anyway.  Unlike S. greggii ... Which can be very thorny.

Thanks for the info.

I found it on Etsy, shipped from Texas.

The plant I received does have small thorns, though they don’t seem too dangerous.

Really elegant little plant.  I’ll post updates, after planting, in the future.
