I know nothing about loquats other than they're cold hardy, grow fast, and should do well in my climate.

Be honest with me. For $10 plus shipping for 5 (there were 6 and a dead one, inside a sealed Ziploc, inside a box, in a bubble mailer) how do these look? They were obviously grown in plugs from the 2 that still had soil attached to the roots.... The soil came loose from all the rest of them. Pardon my construction mess, I'm still finishing up building the new grow table.

Ok after like literally 2 seconds of googling, these don't seem to look too great. But for like $2 and I have no idea how old they are and they'll def improve....

It's warm and humid and bright in there so yeah. I just double checked though and after shipping, I paid $16.21 so for 6 plants that's $2 and change a piece so I can't complain.

I sprinkled salt over the soil of one of my loquat seedling pots because something (snails i assumed) were eating my loquat babies and I wanted to prevent that. But i think it just dissolved with watering and the salt seemingly burned/killed the seedlings. Or so I thought, because fast forward a few months I have a thriving seedling and another one fighting its way back to life. Just a testament to their toughness.

Oof salt. Just put a beer out. It'll attract yellow jackets too but it'll def catch the slugs and snails.

The plants look like they were grown in low light, but these are resilient, just don't let the soil stay too wet.

Easy enough. Man they def have light now, that's for sure. I just hung 3 more shop lights. Pics to my thread and YouTube sometimes tonight. They're in roughly 50/50 coir and perlite with just a handful of compost stirred in well.

Six feet wide and 10 feet tall. In the ground the grow quick. The flowers bloom Thanksgiving to New Years and the aroma is wonderful. Don't plant too close to entranceways as you'll have bees in the winter.

@JohnAndSancho I've heard that if they are grown directly from seed (and not grafted) they aren't as good quality, among other things, in a YouTube video I saw a few days ago. Not sure if it's true or that that's the case with yours.

Here is mine, I believe the variety is "Gold Nugget." It has never flowered, so it's more of a conversation piece. In the bad winter of 2022-23 (not so much for the cold but the duration) I went down to about 3'F and it just about killed it to the ground. Today it stands at about 10' tall, the privacy fence is 6 feet.

nice! There's a good chance mine just end up as conversation pieces or foliage, too. Who knows at this point, they're still super tiny. I guess it depends on how involved I wanna get with these and everything else. Lol they might even end up back on eBay where they came from once they're bigger.

I don't wanna admit my age so I just blame it on the night night meds

These are wonderful trees, you can gradually expose them to the elements and keep them outside on nights where there will be no freeze.
