Hello everyone I need some help thinking of a tree to plant here This is on the Northeast side of our house depends how you look at the area. This area gets morning sun and afternoon shade But it pretty much gets full sun in the winter . I was thinking about planting A magnolia stellata or a magnolia saucer Maybe even a Southern Magnolia BBB I just want something that blooms in Early to mid March Or an evergreen.

Yes there is  camellia varieties that will grow here. Yes we do get snow But it's normally not that much I think the mountains Block most of the snow from us, We probably only get 2 or 3 good snows the year and When we do get good amount of snow it's normally around 3 to 5 inches But it does not last long

Me personally?  May be deciduous but Kentucky Yellowwood  ( Cladrastris kentukea ) would be my top pick for a spot like this..  Big- ish  tropical looking leaves, Spectacular flowers in spring, and nice fall foliage..

Once tall enough to plant under? ...fill with interesting perennial ..and / or annual flowers or low height flowering shrubs.

Hybrid red buckeye, if you can find it out there,  would be another tropical looking, but perfectly hardy tree i'd consider for that spot..

Looks like you've got plenty of evergreen stuff to fill that niche in the overall landscape.

Magnolia stellata / Saucer type? ..would be a nice accent up by the house, where it can be enjoyed from the porch.:greenthumb:
