I recently saw this plant, offered at a local nursery and was immediately intrigued.
A dwarf Jacaranda that is supposedly hardy to zone 9.

Has anyone seen or grown this varietal?

I can say from personal experience that it is no hardier than the regular Jacaranda. I also believe it is grafted, so if it dies to the roots, what comes back will not be "Bonsai Blue."

With that said, it's a Jacaranda that blooms in a pot, so it's a great option for those that enjoy the Jacaranda flowers in cold climates.

Interesting, but more of a Monrovia marketing gimmick than a true dwarf apparently..

I'd grow J. jasminoides < if it can ever be found again >  for a  short- ish Jacaranda..

I've been growing Jacaranda 'Bonsai Blue' for several years now in my 9B garden in interior NorCal. Each year the tips get burned back a few inches in cold weather but it recovers nicely.  It's about 10 ft tall. My online inquiries provided more background:   https://mrplantgeek.com/2020/05/16/jacaranda-bonsai-blue/# and I thought it was a true dwarf, with short internodes, but now I'm seeing a different rootstock shooting up unbranched rapidly from the base, so I suspect it IS a dwarf grafted onto the usual variety of Jacaranda. Still, it blooms well and seems to stay compact. Those are a couple of Trachycarpus 'Nova' in the foreground in two of the pictures.

I've had this one in a pot for some years now. It blooms freely and the small size has been easy to maintain.
