Hello everyone, can anyone recommend me some fertilizers that I could use on my tree ferns? Preferably pellet types as they’re longer lasting. Also, would pellet fertilizers harm the moss on the surface of the soil? And would they go through the moss if sprinkled on top? Thanks!!

John, I can't say for sure, but I feel that pelletized fertilizers may brown your moss.

I toss handfuls of kelp meal into mine (like, where new growth emerges if it's in reach, and along the stem) and they grow like crazy. The soil beneath also hosts Howea, Chamaedorea, and small understory plants and a side from kelp meal also gets worm castings, langbeinite, crushed chicken egg shells, coffee grounds and occasionally a scattering of broad spectrum organic like Agrowinn Palm & Lawn or Microlife. Less frequently but once in a while: greensand, crab shell, and a bit of guano.

Langbeinite may burn the moss... not sure, but the kelp won't.

I have been feeding my Dicksonia banana peels, though I'm uncertain whether this is apocryphal advice.

Mine just get whatever palm fertilizer I normally use.  Right now that is Sunniland 6-1-8.  I am not sure about the moss...
