I recently went to lowe’s and with summer approaching the plant selection was great. I saw silver anniversary yuccas for the first time in store and just couldn’t resist it, especially only being 14$ (cheaper than literally any other yucca or agave they have there). And while they unfortunately do not trunk, I love the blue color and want those tall flower stalks. Anyways, I’m just wondering, what accommodations should I make for planting it. I have 2 spots/ arrangements in mind, but I want to get others opinions on what would work best.

Acaulescent ( non- trunking ) Yucca = give it space to spread out ..because it will.     Wayy to close to the other plants in both shots.

Open area where the palm frond is pointed? = better option.

My only issue is that I am trying to avoid planting anything in that area because it is right next to the driveway where people may get out and walk. While not a huge issue for me it can be a nuisance to my family members.

Do you think it will compete with the agave or look silly if it’s planted right next to it?

Because both pup like rabbits ( Producing tons of them, fairly quickly ) in a couple years, they will essentially become a tangled mass of spiny leaves..

Haha I love that. It actually has a baby pup already. Not to mention there’s a filamentosa right there too. Maybe I should completely reconsider my placement.

Considering the " mother " plant will get 4ft wide itself, then add in that width for each pup it produces, ..that's a lot of space needed..

Y. pallida,  part of the " Silver Anniversary " cross,  is planted extensively here by the city landscapers.. Some that were planted in a nearby street island ..roughly 4 years ago, are already approx 5ft wide. ..That's here where heat and well defined dry seasons limit how quickly things can grow/ spread out.

I keep forgetting to get shots of it but there's a planter located between our neighborhood Costco and a hotel across a driveway full of Agave angustifolia.. Planter is about 20ft in diameter..

Streetview shot of the same planter from '22..  Agave have filled it now..

Now picture the Yucca ..Both of them,  and the nearby Dianella competing for the same space. 😬 I'd charge 5X the avrg. $$ to get that mess under control ...or rip it out and start over..

First big rule of landscape design  = always consider / plan for mature height / width  when planning out what will go where..

Considering my lack of a suitable spot, at least for now, I gave this beauty a nice sized pot. While planting it I also realized it has like 5 offshoots coming up.
