After searching the database I gather that every few years, someone inquires about this species with little result. But I’m trying again. Anyone is CA/US selling this? It would be perfect as a filler in our small SF garden. Let me know and TIA.

Paul,    Syagrus (Lytocaryum) weddelliana has almost the same look.  Difficult to find, but a better chance than Linospadix.

Syagrus hoehnei is a bit larger but has been offered by Flora Grubb.

Also, Ravenea hildebrandtii is quite small, has the same look , grows well for me, and is available now from Floribunda.

If you might wish to place an order with Floribunda I most likely could help to make the $100 minimum transaction.  :winkie:

Hey Darold. Didn't you just pick up a S./L. weddeliana? I think I recall seeing something about that. If you know of a source, by all means let me know. I got interested in L. monostachyos because of the cool specimens at the Strybing. I actually just put a Ravenea glauca in the ground today, on the other side of the garden. How similar is that one to hildebrantii? I kind of want a cluster of thin stemmed palms in the location I'm thinking of, sort of like what I hope your C. radicalis will be eventually.

S. weddelliana is available as small starts from Floribunda. It is also the most petite of the three I mentioned. I have a grove of these in my front yard.  Ravenea glauca is larger than R.  hildebrandtii.  My recent acquisition was two plants of Syagrus hoehnei.  Your best choice for " a cluster of thin stemmed palms" would be the S. weddelliana (very slow, but more choice) or the Chamaedorea radicalis tree form (faster growth, more sparse foliage).

Paul, I posted a wanted ad for this plant on this forum, and unwittingly had a unfortunate experience of someone replying from supposedly Arizona.  The end game was that he finally refund my money after some time, and  and a lot of trouble, I was lucky.  The last time I saw this plant for sale was moons ago in Lafayette, CA and I didn't buy any.  I did track down the person and he has sold his property.   Perhaps Florabunda will get these going.  I am writing this as a warning to be cautious about procuring this plant in USA.  There is a another member from our group in Contra Costa that has one sex, but I spoke to him, and it has never flowered.  Last year, we did tour in South Bay,  and he had a few plants, but perhaps has seeds.  Contact me and I will give you his name.  I have been meaning to follow up, but have been busy.

Hoping I might get to Australia in future and bring back some seeds, just a dream to get to Lord Howe Island and hike.

Let me know if you do find this plant, as I would like to obtain one as well.  I think Jason DeWees in the your neck of woods advertised a wanted ad, and don't know if he found one or not.   Regards, Cecile
