Sabine bought this today for 12 usd but only described as orchid but nothing else ...

Cymbidium ..of some type / cultivar..  Would check out this / other Cym. related growing guide posted on  Santa Barbara Orchid Estate's website for additional cultivation guidance..

VERY popular " Yard Orchid " in many parts of -at least- coastal California. Among the first " tropicals " i tried to grow as a kid. Countless cultivars out there now.

SEHR beliebte „Yard Orchid“ in vielen Teilen – zumindest – der kalifornischen Küste. Gehört zu den ersten „Tropenpflanzen“, die ich als Kind zu züchten versuchte. Mittlerweile gibt es unzählige Sorten.

:greenthumb:  ..Probably one of the easiest Orchids to grow, esp. for beginners,  but,  lol ..i'll warn you now..  Once you start down the " Orchid Rabbit hole ",  there's no turning back ...You will become addicted :D
