Not the most tropical looking plant but I found this to be strange.  Bought this fig 'Celeste' back in the spring.  I noticed one branch had split leaves and another did not.  At first I thought two different plants but then noticed one branch with both types.  Then I thought juvenile and adult leaves but this doesn't seem right either.

Could be a weirdo,  or it could be the specific cultivar was grafted to something like Mulberry,  or a tougher / older Fig variety..

I hadn't thought of the grafting but seems more like a weirdo because of both leaf types on a single branch.  😆  I've only grown the 'Brown Turkey' before and never saw this.  I'm only hoping that the fruits are as good regardless of how it decides to grow!

I don't know what is going on here. Neither leaf appear to be "Celeste", maybe a "Brown turkey". IDK it is weird.

It's definitely odd.  When I did an image search it shows photos of the fruits but there's some resemblance to each of the leaves on different photos on the right side of the screenshot.  The upper right photo from Arbor Day Foundation shows the unsplit leaf and the one below it from Just Fruits and Exotics shows the split leaf.  I took another pic of the one branch with both leaf types as well.

I found a picture of a "Brown Turkey" fig with a similar dueling leaf growth as yours, but I can no longer find the picture. It was on reddit, so someone here may be able to find it later. The shape of figs leaves are inconsistent and are not exactly a reliable identifying feature, but a "Celeste" leaf generally looks different.

I have a mature celeste fig tree(bush) that has leaves similar to the celeste, san piero and benthlehem black in this picture at any given time.  The tree could be a celeste, but I'm thinking brown turkey. Figs are frequently mislabeled and it would take a true expert, which I am not to identify a fig cultivar by its leaf shape.

Whatever variety it is the plant is now setting fruit for the first time.  😁  As long as the fruits are tasty I'll be pleased.

This is all that matters.

Fruits have been red colored for over a month now but fruits are still rock hard.  The previous figs I've grown stayed green much longer and were ripe as soon as they turned color.  Not so with this one - at least with this first fruiting.
