I have not posted here in many years and hope this question is appropriate. I purchased quite a few cycads 20 years or so ago, before my divorce, and when I had money. I had purchased an E. hirsutis unseen in South Africa through Maurice, and trusted that I would eventually get it, since I had done the same thing with a few other rare cycads and he eventually did come through. Anyway, never received it, and have been calling Maurice every few years to remind him that he still owes me a large sum of $$$ or a hirsutis. I forgot to bug him for at least the past 5 years but tried to find him today to see that his website no longer exists. For those of you in Southern California, is Maurice still around, and is he still in the business? I did attach a picture of a cycad in hopes this will keep my post from being removed.

I think you are out of luck.  He was going out of business and selling all his stock a few years back.  A friend of mine bought quite a bit of what he had left in stock, but nothing super special and definitely no Encephalartos hirsutis.  Sorry about your loss.

His resume sounded suspect.

His ratings weren’t good either . Unfortunate that you and others were burned by him.

sad to say he had a pretty bad reputation back when he was in business.  im very sorry to hear of how he scammed you and am not surprised by his crookery.

you can try messaging him on linkedin:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/mauricelevin/  pretty sure he will see but probably will not respond.
