Mainly applies to the current " just after being planted " period, rather than that it will need constant water throughout however long you grow it.

Have seen plenty of older specimens in various parts of FL. that were essentially left to fend for themselves after a year or two of getting settled in in the ground, and were doing fine..  The fact that you guys typically have a nice, long summer rainy season helps, where as specimens grown in CA tend to benefit from a little extra water through the summer months, though there too, i've seen a couple large, older specimens that didn't receive much or any extra water after establishing themselves, and looked pretty good / flowered their heads off.

Neat plant regardless :greenthumb:  Welcome t the forum.
