Hi Scott, from the climate data it would seem Fukuoka is quite wet and humid throughout january and february. Is that correct or is the dendrobium growing in a dryer part?

I found this picture on another forum of a dendrobium nob hybrid possibly with moniliforne (cassiope) also growing in a colder part of Japan

It's fairly wet year round with slightly drier spells in May and October, and a lot of rain in June and July. It's a fairly mild winter climate; not a lot of warmth but no deep freezes and only 7-14 days of frost per year.

Double spike on this Vanda. The anthurium is my young cupulispathum Thai Constellation in the corner.

A couple of flowers on a good grower, but inconsistent to flower for me orchid.  It is an Epidendrum falcatum.

I remember commenting that it seemed very early for a Dendrobium chrysotoxum to be blooming in February.  I'm guessing that the grow lights and being indoors have a role to play in that bloom timing.  Mine still has one more spike to open flowers with three already in full bloom in June.  Last year it was a little later in June to bloom but only a week or two deviation.

I think you're thinking of @piping plovers post from February..  Snow, in coastal San Diego county, esp. now,  would be a definite sign of the apocalypse, lol

Wow, quite the show with your specimen! Wish I could grow em outdoors like you zone 9/10-ers.  Mine actually bloomed again in May after its early February bloom.  Yes, it must have been the indoor lighting schedule; they are on 12 hours a day .  I like to pretend I live Ecuador, even though it’s far from the truth 😳

Be Watchful and report to authorities any signs of saber tooth tigers, mastodons and other ice-age beasties being revived at La Brea/tar pits.

Not sure about creepy, but would've been messy.  Believe Mr. terminator himself was dunked in the " Make believe " tar pits too in 93's Last Action Hero.

Creepy might be visiting the Boardwalk ( Santa Cruz ) a day before some of the scenes from " The Lost Boys " were filmed.

Been inside the comic book store featured in the movie before it was destroyed in the 89 quake as well.  Rebuilt now.

A new purchase from Alan Koch of Gold Country Orchids in California.  He visited our orchid society meeting last week in Cape Cod, MA. Very knowledgeable grower and gave an interesting talk on Angraecums and their Relatives for the
Home Grower.

He brought many intriguing miniature orchids for sale.  This Procatavola Key Lime Star (C. Lime Sherbet x Brassavola nodosa) was certainly not the most rare of offerings but one I wanted for awhile. Night fragrance is pleasant citrusy but not as remarkable as the actual nodosa. I do like the color contrast though.

Species ID's?     Any guesses?

I've had both of these,what I believe to be terrestrial type orchids, about 20 years. Both were originally bought without any ID,and it's finally time to repot. Lava/pumice, coco coir,or soil? Both plants are literally as strong as steel. First one in pics is flowering now. Second one (fat pseudobulbs)  has a similar flowering habit on long sprays,but colors are more blue/purple. 🤷‍♂️

Sobralia season opened a couple of weeks ago with my Sobralia macrantha blooming and today the first flower of the season on one of my Sobralia xanthaluca.  The large flowers ate always a hit when people see them.
