These were one of the few plants that came with the house but they were almost completely dead due to serious neglect. I had no idea what they were at the time because they were mostly dead brown plant matter with little green plant material and no flowers of any kind, but my lady was pretty sure they were some type of tropical flowers. So I cleaned them up, cut them back and after some TLC and some water I was happy to see them bloom into what I believe are Canna Lilies. But with so many different colors and variations I haven’t been to find one that matches using an image search.

Does anyone recognize this variety?

 Thanks in advance.

I don't know the cultivar, but canna can be divided to produce new plants.

Full sun or partial shade?

I'd just keep searching ..whittling down the list by such variables as size ( looks like a dwarf.. but that could be influenced by past neglect ) and flower color ( red w/ yellow,  or red w/ white  )  Of course, if neglected, you might have better results next year when the plant size / proper flower color are back to what should be normal for whatever cultivar it might match.  Both aspects could be somewhat different compared to what you're seeing this year..

Thanks for the tips I will try to find a match searching that way!

They get full sun right now but they HATE it and always get fried by the sun during summer, even with consistent watering, I am going to move them to a more shaded spot after it cools down a little more.

I asked about the sun exposure because that can affect the leaf color, the purple leafed varieties will turn green in the shade.

The cannas like the sun on normal years, but this hot and dry spell is burning everything.

I'm sure you'd seen this elswhere..  It's weird you're seeing them burn in sun there this year,  but these laughed at the 55 days of 110+ / 3 days at 119F highs / 36 days lows above 90F, ..and about  0.74" of rain this summer here in the 'hood.   Sure they get extra water ..but the leaves should be torched, not lush looking in their full sun position in this yard.

That's more rain than I've had this summer.

Good looking cannas; soil composition, irrigation and latitude matter.

^^^ Yep, the previous owners who planted the Cannas just planted them (along with everything else) straight into sand (all of my plantings get DEEP and WIDE holes pre-dug filled with copious amounts of organic soil before anything goes in ground. I suspect this will make a HUGE difference in holding enough moisture to keep them looking healthy when they get replanted in their new spot.
