As most who have P. nigra know, there is a monocarpic die off happening. I bought 100 seeds that were fairly old and got just ONE seedling, which I'm very happy about and am bringing inside at night so the slugs or earwigs don't eat it. At least I hope it's a seedling, it looks more like a seedling than grass and I did soak the soil in boiling water.

Wondering if anyone else has gotten seedlings or might possibly save seed this year if theirs flowers. Some of mine flowered last year but did not produce seed.

Apologies, I can't get a good focus on the seedling. Too small and skinny.
